19th September 2018
Thirteen of our boys recently made the trip to Oamaru to compete in the Aoraki Schools’ Championships.
The competition was broken into two parts; a downhill enduro section (across three different runs) and then the cross-country race in the afternoon.
Logan Peck rode fearlessly to finish second in the downhill section in the morning with a combined time of four minutes for the three runs.
The cross-country race in the afternoon was where the majority of our boys had entered and was held over a very challenging 3.5km course (three laps). The boys showed great resilience and perseverance in dealing with the tough uphill section in HOT(!) conditions and on the whole managed to stay upright on their bikes!
Reef Roberts finished second in a tight finish, with a number of other boys filling spots in the top ten.
A great day was had by all and this is a sport that I am sure we will see more of in the future. Thanks to Mr Brighouse for organising this and the parents who made the trip south to support the boys.
