Last week we received the Otago Maths Problem Solving final challenge results. From 25,883 initial entrants back in April just 1,165 qualified to participate in the final challenge, one hour of the hardest type of questions!
From Waihi’s original sixteen entrants we had one qualifier for the final, Lachie Short. Only the top 1.7% of those finalists achieved at least 80 out of 100 in this super tough test, and this included Lachie.
For this achievement he was awarded a distinction prize, finishing 15th overall in New Zealand for Year 8 students, an amazing achievement, well done Lachie!
