Waihi Association

The Waihi Association was established in 1974 to:

  • Further the wellbeing of the school
  • To foster and keep alive amongst old boys and friends a remembrance of the school and an active interest in its welfare
  • To promote the attention of old boys and friends at school functions
  • To offer scholarships
  • To offer prizes for competitions
  • To encourage sporting activities amongst old boys
  • To assist with fundraising and accept donations

Membership is open to all boys, parents, staff and friends of the school.  The only class of membership is that of life membership.  Boys automatically become members when they leave Waihi; anyone else is welcome to join.  Please contact the school office for membership applications.

The school newsletter, "The Waihi Ahead" is sent to all members.

If you would like information or wish to check your membership details please contact admin@waihi.school.nz or phone Penny Clack on (03) 687 8014.

With the formation of the Waihi Foundation, the Association is now placing a greater emphasis on the area of scholarships.

In 2009 Peter Prosser gave a generous amount to establish a Music Scholarship.  The Association then set aside from their general funds a sum of $50,000 to support the Schools Academic scholarships and $30,000 as a prize giving fund.  It is hoped that over time we can expand those scholarships and any donations would be appreciated.
