Mr Michael Tayler

I joined the Waihi Board as a board appointee in early 2016 and am also an old boy of Waihi. My two oldest boys Sam and William both attended Waihi and our youngest Henry started this year in Year 6.

After University I spent four years travelling and working abroad and now farm an arable business in South Canterbury in partnership with my brother

With previous experience on a school board, I also currently sit on several agricultural boards, both locally and nationally.
As a parent and board member I understand the importance of a good education for our children and the need to prepare them for an ever changing world. The role of our Board is more than just providing strategy and managing finances, but enabling our staff to deliver a high-quality education.

There are always challenges in governing a school but overall I find the role very rewarding. Waihi offers an amazing education to our young men and is fortunate to have a very passionate group of board members, staff and parents who all contribute to make Waihi the very special school it is.
