Mr Tom Pinckney

I am a passionate supporter of Waihi, being the son of an Old Boy and an Old Boy myself, as well as the father of two recent students Nic and Sam.

I have farmed fine wool Merino sheep in Central Otago since 1993 where my wife and I also built up and subsequently sold a diversified Wine company.

I joined the Board in December 2017 and hope that I can help ensure Waihi maintains its high standards of education of young men in the broadest sense, while not losing its family ‘feel’.

My particular area of interest in the short to medium term is to help to progress the ‘Orchard Project’ on the northern boundary of the School.
I have served on our Family Farming Company board in both Executive and Non-Executive roles, and had six years as chair of our local Cromwell Primary School Board. I am a current Trustee of the Otago Rural Support Trust, and have recently completed the Institute of Directors Companies Directors Course.

I enjoy the company of the other Trustees and find the Board environment both stimulating and challenging.
