Sports
Our grounds are set up to help our children achieve with:
cricket and rugby fields
netball and tennis courts
a mountain bike track
driving range
low ropes course
outdoor climbing equipment; and
our heated swimming pool.
If your child has a particular interest, please do communicate with us so we can endeavour to facilitate them participating in whatever direction their physical passion lies.
Teams
Waihi students are passionate about sport, and as a school, we encourage every child to take part in a team sport. Literally and metaphorically everyone at Waihi takes pride in pulling on the school jersey. In winter children have the option of playing rugby, hockey, netball, basketball and football, switching in summer to cricket, tennis, swimming and touch rugby.

At Waihi we play our sport at many South Canterbury Sports Grounds – and some of these are not easy to find!
Basketball, Hockey and Netball are played at Aoraki Park & Stadium, Morgans Road, Timaru.
Throughout Summer and Winter, Waihi children will be found competing across many sporting codes. The varying weekly sports draws will be uploaded here for your easy reference.
