My name is Ollie Clayson and I am the Assistant Head Pastoral/Staff and Housemaster for our boarders at Pyne House.
I have been Assistant Head Pastoral and Head of Boarding at Waihi since 2020. I am very lucky indeed to do the role I do as it positively affects the lives of children. It is a privilege to work with families and staff to get the best out of each and every child. My vision is for children to strive to want to be the best possible version of themselves with a focus on character development and giving everything 100%, whilst understanding that not everything goes your way all of the time.
I have taught for 20 years in day and boarding schools, senior and prep. My wife Lisa is an Occupational Therapist and also an amazing matron in Pyne House here at Waihi. We have 2 sons- Thomas is a boarder at Christ's College and Harry is soon to come to Waihi when he finishes at Winchester Rural.
In my own spare time, I love doing things. Sport, travel and friends are very important to myself and family and we have loved the experiences that NZ life has to offer. Children and adults alike are very lucky to work and live in such an amazing country.
